interoperability

An <a href="/en/glossary/interoperability/interoperability-protocol/">Interoperability Protocol</a> is a standardized set of rules that lets different blockchains exchange data and assets with each other in a consistent, predictable way — fundamentally a protocol specification, a different layer of abstraction from any single <a href="https://crypto-bible.com/en/glossary/defi-basics/bridge/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bridge</a> tool that actually carries out asset transfers.

A <a href="/en/glossary/interoperability/light-client/">Light Client</a> lets a user independently verify on-chain information using only a small set of <a href="https://crypto-bible.com/en/glossary/blockchain-fundamentals/block/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Block</a> headers and cryptographic proofs, without downloading and storing the entire blockchain, and without blindly trusting a data provider.
